Things are good. I got to go to a lingerie fashion show, and now I'm on the society webpage! Among the half-naked male Calvin Klein models. :) There were lots of big name designers and it was very fun! The 4th of July party held by the Embassy was also a huge success. Tonight I go to Argentina's National Day reception.

http://www.sinflash.com/SinFlash/portal/pages/sinflash_evento.html?eventID=c373e91ae2f8a52aafa3000d56bbe803&page=5&canal=Fashion

Here's another photo on a different webpage, but I look terrible!
http://www.entreeventos.com/event.php?eventId=1559

Some of these sayings that are particularly relevant to my life right now are "I can cranberrily take it" but most especially, "Someone please put a fork in me." These sayings are echoed in my mind every day, especially when my Vampire professor goes on and on about how we're all worthless unless we get into grad school, but then she and all my other professors proceed to give me lousy grades.

PostSecret is coming to CNU on September 29. You should come visit me and we'll go together. You. Yes, you.

Vienna is good, I'm learning German, I'm not half bad at it for a beginner since in my mind I just squish English and Swedish together. I'm hanging out a lot with a one Polish boy, a Slovakian boy, and a Mexican boy. I'm slowly uploading my Austria photos onto facebook.

I'm excited for school starting again. Not excited for finishing my economics paper that's due as soon as school starts and I need to finish this week. I miss Tyler. I'm worried about the rat that my roommate is smuggling into our room this year, worried that it will smell, worried we'll get caught and I'll be in trouble. Exhilirated still that I quit the tennis team and will start living my life and finally enjoy college.

Hello! It's been a long time since I've updated, but thanks to my changing facebook picture I'm guessing no one was too worried about me falling off the planet or getting abducted.

I'm done with my first year of college! Since I am not going to be insane and try to double major in business (oh wait...an extra two years of school can't be that bad...) only three more to go! Unless I go to grad school right after college.

College was alright--I found it not as great as it was cracked up to be but I have two good friends, my roommate and my friend John Mark, as well as my fabulous boyfriend. I learned that lunch time conversations go a bit different in a coed environment then at an all-girls school. Example:

Me: *Comes back with ice cream, a green glove used to scoop is on lunch tray.*
Joe: "That looks like a glove you would use for a prostate exam!"
Me: "---"
Matt: *Coming back from getting more fries, had not heard previous comment.* "Who had the prostate exam?"
Me: "This is so weird."
...Conversation proceeds about how none of the three boys (I was the only girl there), would rather die from cancer then have a prostate exam, then onto stories about how their dads had nearly fainted while their mothers were giving birth to them.

This summer I am BUSY! I am working at the Dept. of State starting Monday full-time and on weekends I work at Delia's. June 27th I go back to CNU for a couple of days before flying to London since I am going to study at Harris Manchester College, part of the University of Oxford for the first two weeks of July. It's pretty awesome, CNU is paying for tuition, room & board, as well as food. I only have to write lots of papers in return. Then I'm flying to Sweden to spend time with my now senile grandmother (she had a stroke a couple of months ago) but my mom wants me to "activate" her and get her moving. I'll spend 10 days in the middle of nowhere Sweden "activating" and trying to seem cool to my cousins.
After that I'm flying to Vienna where I'll meet my cat in the airport since my dad is arriving an hour later than me, and we'll go to our new home in Vienna! We're being transferred there for the next three years. However, I'll still be going to CNU.

Even though I'm busy, I'm still around and would love to spend time with you as you all return from college!

Woke up with friends who all seem to have varying opinions of their college experience from liking it to loving it, to some of the previous freshman/sophomores who are still at Madeira. (Enjoy it as much as you can--you'll miss it so!) Myself not having done up a summary of the fall 2006 semester, remain largely ambivalent about CNU. I vaguely remember thinking to myself awhile back that I had made the right choice, but by Thanksgiving break I started crying when my dad took me back because I was hating it. But I'm remaining positive; I made lots of mistakes last semester (although academically I finished quite well 3.78 GPA which qualifies as Dean's List) but my roommate and I get along quite well and I have a boyfriend who I love and who loves me back.

I do not party at college-- I went to one frat party, to see what it was like; sampled the drinks (I still don't like the alcohol) made friends, went home. However, I pulled at least 7 all nighters and my average sleep was 4 and 1/2 hours a night. Not a good amount! While I found I function quite well during the day--I can barely remember anything with the exception that I saw both school plays as well as Jesus Christ Superstar and Aida (absolutely amazing) that came to CNU. The NCAA Varsity Tennis Team that I am on, but hardly belong on, sucked up a lot of time too. I resolve for next year to reestablish tennis as a de-stressing time instead of constantly grating on myself on my inferiority to the other players.

Ballroom Dancing was my haven--I love dance, even with two left feet and dancing with really weird guys who are only there for the girls, I enjoy it. Tuesday nights of ballroom dancing club followed often by Tyler deciding I needed a coffee break and game of chess at Einsteins (our school coffee shop--serves Starbucks) really kept me going.

Well winter break is here and I'm having a good time. I feel much better and a lot more healthy (even though I have horrible allergies in the morning due to my cat) I'm seeing a lot of you friends, and I'm spending a good portion of my salary shopping at Delia's (which is where I work as a Fashion Representative.)

Even though 2007 has already started, these are my resolutions that I am still following.

) Be better to myself. (Which means more sleep and green veggies and less stress)
2) Get all As.
3) Be a better friend to many different people.

Today is a perfect day; I played tennis in shorts with Ashley Adams and then went running on Myers. The blue sky and something else that happened today has given me a lot of hope.

Love!

So I had my first two hours of training which turned out to be 4, with only two on pay of learning how to fold and keep everything "Standard" which means 3 of each size of certain sweaters, 4 of each on t-shirts, have everything looked like it was perfectly cut with a knife, etc. Then cash registers, which is kind of complicated because you have to input sales discounts manually, the computer doesn't recognize them. I got to ring up two real customers! The managers say that they're sure I'll be great and decided to have me work on the day they get inspected by corporate, Wednesday. That will be fun--I'll only have had two days to learn everything. I'm still quite nervous about it all, and about dressing appropriately Delia's style, although I did get two new t-shirts from them (with my 40% employee discount off of 30% discount! Yay for sales!) Hopefully they won't mind if I wear them over and over and over again......

Also got my first semester grades today. I'm quite pleased with them overall, I made Dean's List, but I don't think they're good enough to make the highly selective Oxford Program, where they expect a 3.9

Christmas Love!

I woke up today (at 6:45) after getting a decent amount of college sleep (3 hrs. 45 minutes) so I could finish my last self analysis paper for leadership, printed it out at 7:55 and glowingly walked to statistics just knowing that it was going to be a good day. I was not disappointed when in statistics, the teacher let us hand in our take home tests and bid us adieu. Went back to my room, slept for half an hour, went to government where I thought I was pretty kick ass "Democracy is tyranny of the majority! Say yes to authoritarian governments for the developing world!" and then the rest of the day was just good. I had some sort of zen inner calm peace thing going on and even though I've not been my bubbly self for quite some while I really felt like me again. Then, of course, it had to be ruined by Macy's deciding to give away my job, so that opportunity went out the window, but I'm calling Ann Taylor tomorrow to see if they still want me.

Now for my pitiful mini rant: I don't know if it's just college freshman weight gain, the fact that I am obscenely tall and out of proportion, or just having a weird muscle structure from swimming/tennis or just the fact that having insane amounts of economics homework nnd lack of sleep is making me emotionally unstable, but I am SO SICK OF MY ROOMMATE LOOKING BETTER IN MY CLOTHES THAN I DO. She has now begun to borrow my clothes (with my permission) but her body just looks so much better in them than I do, I look like a cross between a hippo and a giraffe in comparison, and these are clothes that are still my favorites....take for example my pretty white dress shirt, or now for the dance this Friday, she's wearing my affirmation/semi-formal dress which I thought was pretty cute on me. Now I realize I was sooooo wrong..... I know I'm being super selfish and material, I just miss feeling pretty in my own clothes.

Today was so wonderful... Woke up, and met 8 Madeirians at Neisha Thai where we had such yummy lunch. Talked and got caught up, then went for starbucks/coldstone, and a little bit of shopping. Mostly it was just soooo good being around those who could come and talk to them again. All of you are changing in subtle ways, I know I've changed. But at the same time, it's so easy to see who people really are, the person that we love them as inside of them. Never an ackward moment, conversation existed as easily as it was when we would eat lunch together. We even saw some other girls from our class doing catching up in the Barnes and Noble cafe. After everyone left (and we are all going to see each other again during winter break) and it was just time to drive Anna back to the metro we took a big detour and went to Madeira where we watched the sunset and the kayakers in the river. I miss Madeira like I miss home, probably more.

Tonight my parents are making my favorite food and even though I can't wait to see Tyler, I don't want to leave here, here where I'm not stressed (except for a few family conflicts that I can handle) and where it's so easy to feel like I belong. Seeing all of you today just heightened those feelings.

Love, love and more love to all of you!

Sayuri had the fabulous idea of summarizing college in a few short sentences. While I replied to her post, I embellished a little more to result in this:

I have done extensive scientific research on the correlation between getting three hours of sleep a night (due to planning out a new governmental system and the MBTI of its leaders) and my ability to give my roommate death glares. At the same time I have also learned how to calculate the margin of error of the chances of me actually hitting a winning shot in tennis against one of the many professional tennis players on my NCAA Division .234 team. In my spare time I alternate between seeing world class performances in the Ferguson Center for the Arts, schmoozing with the President of the University, dancing sexy tango numbers, stuffing myself on Ben and Jerry's Half-Baked ice cream and shagging my hippie boyfriend senseless. I am also dressing up for class while wearing nothing but prom dresses since inevitably I will have forgotten to add flexpoints to my card or simply not cared enough to do laundry.

P.S. Not an embellishment--I have had to pay $80 this semester so far because of lost keys/ids.

Jesus Christ Superstar

Last week was so long, I'm so happy that it's the weekend even if I have a horrible freshman seminar midterm on Monday.

Today I saw Jesus Christ Superstar in the Ferguson Center with my roommate and Stephanie Swift. It was very good. First of all the tech was amazing and the chorus singing awesome, but Jesus, who was played by Ted Neeley who was in the original cast and in the movie is old and has a scratchy voice. It was really great going to it though and we were sitting up close. The people around us had to pay over $200 for the tickets if they're not associated with CNU and we payed $15 for the tickets.

Tonight Tyler and I are going on a "date" to Panera. We figure that after over a month of being together we can eat one meal without all our other friends and just make it special for us. Next semester he's going to have his car on campus (which happens to be a multicolored van covered in stars that he and his sister painted one) so we'll be able to go off campus! I'm still battling cabin fever...

Oh-- new snack: Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough pop tarts and Izze, sparkling pomegranate, all natural. The pomegranate drink--not the pop tarts. :)

Ooh--and I now have the wicked sountrack and even though I've only read half the book and never seen the musical, my roommate and I are obsessed. I love Defying Gravity, For Good, Popular, What is this Feeling? and As Long As You're Mine the best.

Just wanted to let you all know: Even though I'm perhaps not the best at keeping in touch, no matter how much I like my new friends, none of them come close to you all and I miss you so much and think of you constantly.

Things are good: Went up home this weekend and showed my roommate Tysons and Madeira (saw lots of people since it was an admissions open house day too) and ate really yummy food. Things this week are nice, even though I anticipate staying up until ungodly hours of the morning tonight yesterday I was in denial and didn't do ANY work at all (which really is something since last week I got three hours of sleep every night from only doing work.

I've also experienced my first run on the treadmill which included several times like this "oooh, faster, faster, faster.....no wait! Slow down! Ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!" This is because the tennis season is over until January 17 (my birthday)so we have to work out on our own.

I hope everyone is doing fabulously!

It has been less than a month since I've been in a coed enviornment and it has become official: I have a boyfriend. And he's completely non CMF and I love him and he loves me and he's very cute and smart and everything. And he is so sweet to me. :) Although there are differences like the fact that he wears tie dye ALL the time and has taken on the habit of walking EVERYWHERE barefoot, except the dining hall where they kicked him out, he is still fabulous. He's a hippie but adorable.

Oh, I converted him and my roommate to Firefly last night.
