I miss all my friends. Friends from high school, who are so far away right now. The ICC people whom I worked outside with 8 hours a day for 10 weeks in the sweltering VA heat. Friends from college, whom I haven't really seen these past few months. I miss everybody who I don't see every day. With friends, memories are made and that is what makes them unforgettable. |

| The end is here...well not literally |

OMG, OMG, let me freak out for a moment as I jubilantly and very nostalgically and a little bit sadly celebrate the end of my 10 week internship. I would have to say it has been the best experience I have ever had in any given summer. I don't know how I am going to top off this one next summer. And I am not just referring to the fact that I definitely broke most of the rules that we Madeira girls are preached against. I mean the sex and the drinking. Didn't try the smoking. I am going to miss everybody. From Bre's napping moments, drunken moments, and her loud laughter, to Ari and his music and mountain bike tastes as well as his cheerful demeanor, to Geoff's loud noises, cooking, crazy, highly crude humor to Bryce and his crazy behavior due to Geoff's influence as well as his hot body. I have to chuckle at that last one. I would have to say I have had some crazy things happen to me this summer, and though I was afraid every time it happened, I enjoyed it nonetheless.
Our supervisor gave us handcrafted wood and pipe cleaner tick magnets. They're so cute and unlike their live counterparts they're big and they don't embed their heads in you. I have over 200 pictures from this summer, I would think I should have more, but I think most of the picture perfect moments I was definitely a part of. And besides, I think it time I got myself a smaller, compact camera sometime. I may just use the one I have now for nature pictures since it can be a bit bulky to carry around in purse.
New camera, another thing I would like to buy along with some clothing this summer before school starts. And I go back to school in approximately two weeks. I have to go to all my doctors' appointments (dentist, opthamologist, and primary), get my haircut (if you saw my earlier post with the choices, I am going with the one on the right), party with friends one Saturday and then pack as if there is no tomorrow.
I plan to put all 200 pictures up at some point. |

| Counting those last few hours |

I can't believe tomorrow is Aug 1st and the very last day of my internship. So many memories....
-Working and bitching about the heat and sweat, and vicious plants while outside. -Sitting around on the field doing absolutely nothing, staring at the plants we are supposed to be pulling -Acting crazy in the field when we don't want to work -Having the freedom to take naps while on the clock and unsupervised -Waking up really early in the morning to get to the field by early morning to avoid the vicious heat -Ending early in the afternoon, and therefore allowing for afternoon naps -Getting paid by the county for weeding their parks for them -Capturing the fun and joy on film. -Staying up slightly late with the guys in their apt watching crazy stuff -Eating out, spending hard-earned money when none of us has made a lunch -Watching the guys pig out, well actually, one of the guys just pig out and spend a mountain of money of food (that would be Bryce, who has never learned to cook) -Having Geoff cook me omelet for once though he failed on mine, and succeeded on everybody else's. -Watching Bre take a cigarette every 20 minutes while out on the field. -Getting cut by thorns and bristles and old wire fences. -Wearing long pants and long sleeves while out in the heat and yet I am still bitten by mosquitoes and crawled on by ticks -Going out on the river in a kayak for free since we're park employees -Playful flirting out on the field and having it unexpectedly turn into something else a few weeks later -Letting loose among a great group of people -Seeing Bre's face when she is in utter shock like today after I revealed the "secret" everybody was trying to get out Bryce since this morning -Falling asleep in the truck in the morning and/or afternoon after a hard day's worth of work -Guzzling lots and lots of water in a single day -Having to take a shower every afternoon in order to wash away the dirt of the day -Sitting around on the really comfy couch watching SVU with Bre in the evening -Living in a fully furnished apt and having my own room. I am going to so miss this. -Having free laundry. Another thing I will so miss -Hearing the guys making crazy weird noises to each other -Trying to make Geoff shut up with his highly sexual innuendos since it's his kind of humor. I can see why he is relatively reticent when in front of our supervisor. -Meeting the many people that work on preserving and conserving the last bits of open land in the county -Having my eyes opened to new opportunities in the environmental field -Making connections to people of other states and schools -Just having a great job with great benefits for the summer. This one is going to be hard to top when it comes to fun
I will definitely miss all these people. We all take our different paths tomorrow afternoon. I head home with my brother. Bryce heads to Charlottesville for the Powershift planning weekend, which I should attend, but won't be. Geoff starts his drive back down to FL, but is detouring to visit a chick in Salisbury. And Ari and Bre will be heading to JMU and Northern Michigan respectively on Saturday morning.
Really should be going to bed since we have to unfortunately leave at 6:15 on our last day. Cheers. Have a lot of packing and cleaning to do tomorrow. |

| First day = no attached ticks |

| | glee | ] | Yay I have no attached ticks on my body. So no likelihood of Lyme. Though we go to the same park again tomorrow. Lyme is unlikely as long as you get the tick out before 24 hours have passed. Only deer ticks carry the disease if they bite a deer first. But anyways no ticks! Whooppee. And answer to the cute boy comment. I do have have cute boy that would probably be willing to check for ticks...lol.
So far from today: Everybody had ticks walking on them today, but only one I know so far had an attached one (on her upper thigh near the underwear line) |

| | amused | ] | I don't if any of you are aware of this amazingly good site called w00t.com where you can get some great daily deals on some interesting technology. Like I saved a lot of money on my present Ipod at this site. And of course as a discount site, they sell some interesting things on some days. And today's is a Ballfinder Scout Digital Golf Ball Locator...

I think that if you need one of these, you're one bad golf player....lol |

What do you guys define as "Summer Music"? I'm trying to make a playist, mostly for driving but also for chilling, and I've got a startling variety of music going on here:
Fuel- Metallica Find A New Way- Young Love Highway 1- Foxboro Hot Tubs (AKA Green Day) When Your Heart Stops Beating- (+44) Chariot- Gavin DeGraw Closing Time- Semisonic Heading West- Crash Romeo Girl All The Bad Guys Want- Bowling For Soup Sadie Hawkins Dance- Relient K Higher Ground- Red Hot Chili Peppers If You Had A Bad Time- Alkaline Trio Born To Be Wild- Steppenwolf Wait For The Blackout- Alkaline Trio The Curse Of Curves- Cute Is What We Aim For Dear God- Avenged Sevenfold Stay- Dot Dot Dot Lost- Avenged Sevenfold Raise The Roof- Carbon Leaf Scattered- Green Day
They aren't in order yet, but I'm working on it, I'll probably have to cut a few... Anyways, this list is really varied: metal to pop to acoustic. What music do you associate with summer?
EDIT: Boredom = Memes.
Well... that was interesting. |
